Using the original XREAL Air (Nreal Air) on a Windows PC

Applies to the first-generation XREAL Air (originally branded Nreal Air) on Windows 10/11. Not validated in Complete VR Studio.

The first XREAL Air launched under the Nreal name before the company rebranded to XREAL. It is still a capable 1080p-per-eye display, but newer XREAL software increasingly targets the Air 2 and One families. On a PC it behaves like an external monitor, so you can still get a good picture with the right setup.

Honest note: RayNeo Air 3 is the only model fully tested with Complete VR Studio. The original XREAL Air uses a manual profile that has not been validated yet, so treat app-specific steps as experimental. The general steps work with any software.

1. Connect it as a monitor

Plug the glasses into a USB-C port that carries video (DisplayPort Alt Mode). If nothing appears, read glasses not detected on Windows and USB-C video ports and adapters.

2. Set native resolution

In Windows, open Settings › System › Display, select the glasses, and confirm the resolution and refresh rate under Advanced display.

Use 1920×1080. A non-native resolution is scaled and looks soft, which is easy to mistake for lens blur.

3. Fit an older frame

First-generation frames have fewer adjustment points than later models. Try every nose pad size and temple position; aim for the sharpest top and bottom edge at the same time.

4. Side-by-side 3D

The Air family has a 2D/3D toggle on the glasses. In 3D mode each eye shows one half of a 3840×1080 signal, which is what SBS movies and games need. See SBS 3D on Windows.

Where per-eye tuning helps

Older units can show small left/right differences in tilt or tint. Per-eye perspective, stretch and color in Complete VR Studio can compensate on the PC side, but the XREAL profile is manual and unvalidated, so start with small adjustments.

Trial, price and how to get it

Complete VR Studio is a Windows 10 (version 19041 or newer) and Windows 11 x64 app, currently at version 1.0.0-preview.10. Premium features are included in a 7-day trial from install, and basic viewing keeps working until day 90. Activation costs about $5 in Bitcoin during the trial, or about $25 after it, paid in Bitcoin only. It's built security-first. See trial & pricing and compatibility for details.
