Best software for XR glasses on PC: a fair comparison
Different tools solve different problems. Virtual-screen apps give you floating, head-tracked monitors. Complete VR Studio focuses on per-eye image correction and depth. Here's an honest overview.
| Software | What it does · platforms · glasses |
|---|---|
| VITURE SpaceWalker | VITURE's official multi-screen layouts, mirror/extend, screen distance and refresh switching. Windows 10 x64 (1903+)/11, Mac, iOS, Android. For VITURE glasses. |
| XREAL on-glasses modes | XREAL One-series glasses run 3DoF anchoring, UltraWide and Real 3D on the glasses' X1 chip, so they work without PC software. XREAL has also offered its Nebula app on some platforms; check XREAL for current Windows status. |
| VertoXR | Cross-platform spatial workstation: multiple virtual desktops, desktop scaling, WebXR browser, several glasses brands. In beta (v0.2.x when checked). |
| Breezy Desktop | Open-source virtual desktop for Linux (GNOME/KDE) plus a Vulkan layer for gaming, including Steam Deck. Not a Windows app today. |
| Sightful Spacetop for Windows | Paid spatial workspace bundled with XREAL Air 2 Ultra glasses. Requires specific Intel Core Ultra laptops, according to WIRED's review. |
| Complete VR Studio | Per-eye perspective/tilt, stretch/curvature, color, gyro, edge fade, SBS and a 2D-to-depth effect. Windows 10 (19041+)/11 x64. RayNeo Air 3 is fully tested; XREAL, VITURE and Rokid have manual profiles that aren't validated yet; Quest is experimental. About $5–$25 in Bitcoin. |
Which should you pick?
- Want multiple floating monitors? Use your brand's own app or VertoXR.
- On Linux or Steam Deck? Use Breezy.
- One eye looks tilted or mismatched, or you want PC-side depth? That's what Complete VR Studio is for.
Don't run two apps that both capture and redraw the screen at the same time.
